What parts of your life are unbearable right now?

Aug 03, 2021

How will they be in 24 months?

In which areas would a shift of mindset from outside game to inside game create new areas for growth?

I saw an article from a well-known breakup guru I follow which reminded me of the terrible place I was in 2 years ago.

Career and marriage spiraling out of control, my mindset sucked.

As a competitive athlete and business person, I was always looking for the win.

Yet now, I was stuck in an endless loop of firefighting and being criticized by my boss and wife.

What I couldn't see was that they had slowly shifted me off my values like boiling a frog.

By allowing them to shift me off my core values enabled them ownership of my mindset.

To say that I was battle fatigued grossly underestimates the amount of energy I had tied up in building these things.

I was soldiering on because that's what we are supposed to do, right?

Not because it was leading me somewhere I wanted to go.

The searing pain of losing a 10 yr career, 18 yr marriage, and my mother within 10 days of each other cut me like a hot scalpel.

The cold sweats, waking up at 3 am unable to breathe.

Like a sailor cast overboard in a storm, groping about in the dark for a rock to which I could cling.

When I discovered coaching and the personal growth

After the grief, I came to really appreciate the value of the gift and freedom I had been given; a new life.

Comparing then until today I am amazed at the transformation sometimes.

Conclusion:

What had changed in both examples?

The circumstances were still unbearable.

What made them bearable suddenly?

It was a change in mindset.

I knew I’d be out of there and this all would soon be a distant memory.

I was mentally already in a better place.
